Review: The Zippy Elf

I stumbled across Madison's shop, The Zippy Elf while searching for tea related items on Etsy. The Zippy Elf makes adorable, zippered clutches, wallets and purses.

It was love at first sight!
The item that struck me was a beautifully crafted clutch made with a whimsical print featuring tea pots and a lovely British theme.

I immediately favorited the item and sent Madison a convo to see if she would be interested in doing a review. She was very willing and we promptly exchanged information.

Within just a few weeks, my package arrived. I was immediately impressed with how nicely my item was packaged.

Wrapped in a beautiful gold paper and tied with a ribbon, I felt like I was receiving a special gift.

I untied the bow and peeled back the paper and literally squealed with delight.

Madison had crafted a very special, BBC Sherlock themed wristlet clutch for me. I absolutely loved it!!

Now, I am a seamstress myself and have been sewing for many years so I very carefully examined the clutch for attention to detail. I was not disappointed.

The zipper was artfully sewn in. There were no loose threads. The darts had been pressed. It was obvious to me that some heavy duty interfacing had been used on the front flap for added stability.

When I opened the bag, there was another surprise for me! Inside was another gold wrapped package.

This one containing a coordinating checkbook cover in another Sherlock print. I use the checkbook cover as a billfold and keep it with me everyday.

Why yes, I am SHERlocked!  Thank you very much!

The clutch is just the right size for a date night and easily holds my wallet, phone, billfold, lipstick and a few odds and ends. It also came with a handy wrist strap which I greatly appreciate as I tend to drop things easily.

Loaded up with lots of stuff

Madison knows her craft! It's obvious that people are noticing this as well. The Zippy Elf on Etsy opened in October of 2013 and she already has over 230 sales. All of her items are very reasonably priced. My wristlet clutch would sell for $25.00 and the checkbook cover/billfold is only $8.00.

I can't wait for all of you to check out The Zippy Elf and send her some love.

  3. The Nancy Drew fabric at the Etsy site is so cute! I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before. And of course, Doctor Who stuff always makes me drool! :D

  4. What a beautiful bag and check book cover, I love how the bag is more subtle fangirl, very sophisticated. I too am a little Sherlocked, sigh, so long to wait for more, sigh!

    1. I loved that about it too! The average passerby wouldn't really know what they were looking at, but us dedicated fans can privately swoon over that profile!
I know its going to be a long wait, ugh! But until then, there is always fanfiction. . . ;)

  7. Wow! Clearly, Madison puts a personal touch and effort into her work. I like the way you integrated pictures into your review, so we could see both the product and also the size relative to a person. For me, the size looks just perfect!

  9. I love these purses, so pretty you would want to carry outside your purse. I would use a place for my wallet when nI run in stores and don't take my purse. Of course I would use for so many other things too. Beautiful, Thanks for the review.
