Review/Giveaway: Magformers Magnetic Construction Set

While visiting children’s museums and attending birthday parties, we've gotten a sneak peek into the world of magnetic kids toys. My son is 2 1/2 and loves to build, so he naturally gravitates to the magnetic toys. I knew he would be very excited about our up coming product to test. When the Magformers box arrived, I could barely get a picture of the boxes before he was ripping them open to play.

Magformers LLC is a privately held company headquartered in Plymouth, MI. They pride themselves in the quality of their product.

"... Each shape contains rotating Rare Earth Neodymium magnets, the strongest of their kind for guaranteed connectivity. Every magnet is kept safe and secure in Sonic welded, BPA free, HQABS plastic.”

We always like finding high quality toys for our little one that are safe. My husband is an operating room nurse and always worried about kids eating magnets. He was happy to see how secure the magnets are. No one wants their playtime to go from fun to a hospital visit.

We received the 45 Piece Walking Robot Set and the 30 Piece Rainbow Set.

Our son went right for the robot. The walking robot includes 45 pieces and requires 3 AAA batteries. The batteries are not included in the set.

The robot comes with a model booklet to give you ideas for building such as basic robot, boy robot going to school, girl robot going to school, clockwork toy robot, space robot, gentleman robot enjoying a picnic, lady robot enjoying a picnic, villain robot, and hero robot.

Once the batteries are in and the robot is turned on he will walk in whatever creation you have built along with the eyes lighting up.

The power button is located in between the robots two eyes. There are two buttons on the robots chest to control the arm and leg movement.

When the robot is on he makes a working noise so you can never accidentally leave him on and run through your batteries. The noise is not loud or something that would drive a parent crazy. The Walking Robot Set retails for $109.99

The Rainbow 30 Piece Set adds additional pieces to build with your robot or for separate projects. I enjoyed the additional pieces they are a great way to help teach our son colors, shapes, and sizes.

This set also came with a manual that teaches you how to build a small ball, fish, triangle ball, small house, magic ball, camera, flower, small mill, cylinder, and big house. The Rainbow 30 Piece Set retails for $49.99.

Magformers are a great toy for kids to learn through play, experiment and let their creativity run wild. They are also one of those toys you find yourself still playing with once your child has moved onto something new. You pick up a few and next thing you know you are building a village.

This will be a toy that will grow with our son and provide hours of playful learning. I keep it all in a basket for our son to grab anytime he feels inspired.

Magformers offers free shipping on all orders over $50 and currently has a promo code (SAVE25) on their website for 25% off - what a great way to get a bargain on a great, creative gift for the holidays!
