Admittedly, I’m not yet at a point in my life where I am purposely searching out organic, all natural, vegan treat options, but that is not to say I am not stoked when I happen upon them. I still have quite a bit of doubt that food that is nutritious and, dare I say healthy, can also taste good.
However, Rawmio has blown my taste buds' mind! I had the sheer pleasure of getting to taste many of their amazing goodies, and I hope many of you readers do the same!
I was very nervous about the delivery of these products as I do live in the middle of the Mojave desert.
In the past I have received chocolate items in the form of a liquid filled envelope. Luckily, Rawmio had the smarts to ship these properly. They came in a big box, with each item wrapped up in insulated bubble envelopes and with icepacks. There was also packing peanuts for protection; I didn’t know these still existed!
The only bit of a casualty was that the truffle cake and orange hearts were slightly melted (this is August! In a place with a climate that resembles the center of the sun!). Not quite a liquid puddle, but no way of eating without a huge mess. So as soon as I unwrapped it, I stuck it in the freezer for a few hours.
As soon as they were chilled, I immediately tore into the bag of orange chocolate hearts. These were lovely small bite treats made with 70% raw cacao and a slight orange flavor. The aftertaste was much stronger than the original impression. My only hang-up with these is that their flavoring derives from orange essential oil. There are a lot of differing opinions as to whether or not that is safe to do. So just know that it exists in this treat, and enjoy at your own discretion. A 2oz bag of these, which claim to have 30 hearts but I didn’t count, retails $5.99.
Later that night I removed the truffle cake from the freezer. It looked kind of odd, but I chalked that up to it being cold, of course. My husband and I each tried to bite into it, and we are thankful to still have teeth.
Knowing that frozen is not how it was intended to be eaten, I made sure not to judge it too harshly just yet. I put it in the cabinet to try again a few days later.
Oh GOODNESS! This is easily my favorite item Rawmio sent. It has a nice soft chocolaty top, but a crunchy decadent bottom crust.
I think it is insane that it says there are 2.5 servings in the cake. I have literally been eating off it all month! When I find my self needing a touch of sweet, I've been completely satisfied going to the cabinet, taking a bite off of this and putting it right back. This 5 oz beauty runs $9.99. What’s even more awesome is that it also comes in a 28oz full size for $39.99!
This next item, I was afraid I’d be a little biased about. While Rawmio’s organic chocolate hazelnut spread looked and smelled delicious, I'm a huge fan of Nutella. I was worried that I couldn’t possibly love another, healthier, spread.I was wrong.
Our family ate this jar up in about 2 weeks, mostly just dipping pretzels into it. It also tastes fabulous spread onto warm toast.
The consistency is different - it is more of a chocolate fudge sauce you’d use on ice cream. (OMG, WHY HAVEN'T I DONE THAT!?)
A 6oz jar runs $12.95. While I would find that a touch pricey in general, it’s also a very fair cost for this organic sauce.
The last two pieces were chocolate bars. I LOVED these! Like the Truffle Cake, these were not “eat in one sitting” treats, and I loved my little nibbles through the day.
I received two kinds, and while I loved them both, the Organic Gourmet Salted Coconut Caramel & Crushed Cashew Raw Chocolate Bark was my standout favorite. I’m not a simple chocolate person. I can’t buy plain chocolate no matter how gourmet or high quality it is. It must be crunchy, preferably with multiple flavor points. This bark hit the nail on the head for me. I would definitely purchase again!
I was sure the second bar would be pretty boring in comparison. I assure you, it held its own. The Sprouted Almond and Sea Salt Raw Chocolate Bark was just as tasty. The large almonds on the top were nice and crunchy and the chocolate had a surprisingly large salt flavor that was just incredible.
Each of these bars, as well as a number of other varieties, can be purchased for just under $6 each.
After trying several of their treats, I am sold on how good more healthy chocolates can taste, and I highly recommend Rawmio.
If you want to order some of the Chocolate bark from RawGuru.com/Store between now and the end of the day Aug 31, 2015, you can get a discount!
