We are doing something we don't usually do here at Reviews, Chews & How-Tos - we're offering a giveaway for a product we have not yet reviewed (although we will be - stay tuned)! This is because we are just that excited about the concept of Cooper and Kid, and we wanted to be sure you got a chance to hear about them in good time to consider this for the perfect Father's Day gift.
Seriously, dad does not need another tie or grilling apron or statue of a dad golfing or fishing.
What dad NEEDS and wants is a way to spent quality and fun time with his kids, while still being a GUY.
That's what Cooper and Kid offers! This is a quarterly themed box of activities and projects for dads and their kids, aged 5-9, to do together. The themes are 'dad-friendly', and the box not only includes high quality toys that get everyone actively exploring the theme through construction projects, role play, science experiments and creative play, but it also includes links to further projects and ideas to expand the experience, as well as recipes to cook together. There is even a recipe for a Dad-only cocktail for after the kids have gone to bed (using the included story book, or course!)
As a father who is in the military, I am often not able to spend time with my daughter, so having a kit geared toward me that helps me do that in a productive, fun way that is interesting for both of us is truly a valuable addition to our lives.
I will be reviewing Cooper and Kid's "How Things Fly" box here in a few weeks - it has all sorts of flight-related items including making a catapult together. (a CATAPULT!). I can't wait and I know my daughter is going to love this too.
One of the things that I find refreshing about Cooper and Kid is that they aren't just about Dad as a dad - they remember Dad is also a guy. Their website includes a section called the Catch E-zine which shares all sorts of articles on topic of interest to Dads, including workouts, sports, family vacations, time spent with other guys (they call these "Man Dates" - I don't think I'll be using that term next time I hang out with the guys, but the articles are good.) Also, as I mentioned above, each box includes a recipe for a cocktail for some adult time.
Currently, they've just started a Body Hair Photo Content for Father's Day over at Fuzzworthy Father's Day. The rules are simple - show off your body hair, however you'd like, as long as it's not on a part of your body that would be covered by your tighty whities. (because no one wants to see that except Mom). The contest will be running between now and Father's Day, and the winner will receive "medals and prizes."
But back to the subscription box. Right now, those signing up will be receiving Cooper and Kid's Father's Day special Cooper Kit, called "The Good, The Bad and the Bugly: An Adventure Into the World of the Creepy & Crawly."
This box will be shipping out on 9-10 June, just in time to arrive for father's day and provide a summer full of creepy, crawly exploration time for Dad and the kids.
I don't know what's it this box - they like to keep the contents a mystery until they've arrived, but I'm pretty sure just by the theme that it's going to be a whole lot of fun, with a few 'ews' tossed in.
The exciting part, is that they're going to let us give away one of the Father's Day boxes - we're timing this to end just before midnight (PDT) on June 5th, so it can be delivered when they make their shipment a few days later.
I encourage you to enter the giveaway, consider buying a box for your favorite Dad, and then check back with us in a few weeks for our own review of the "How Things Fly" box. I'm positive you'll be as excited as I am about this company once you learn more!
Giveaway guidelines:

This is awesome!! What a great idea. I can't wait to order one of these for my husband and daughter!
ReplyDeleteI love that the kits are gender neutral!
DeleteLooking around the site, I was really impressed that one of the articles on their e-zine has to do with talking to a young girl about concerns about 'being fat'. This is becoming SO common, and I think it's really important for Dads to figure out how to handle it in a helpful way. I find this whole idea really refreshing and hopeful.
DeleteOne thing I remember doing with my dad when I was young is going to his astronomy club and watching stars. When I was older we would go geocaching together!
ReplyDeleteMy dad and I used to work on cars together.
ReplyDeleteMy dad has always been a great father. I remember taking road trips across the US to places we wanted to go such as Disneyland and the Grand Canyon.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like so much fun for Mischief and the Mister!
ReplyDeleteI remember doing everything with my dad, and having him be my biggest supporter and my biggest fan in everything I did!
I like that it is for dads & kids ages 5-9. My oldest is almost 6 & needs some 1 on 1 time with dad.
ReplyDeleteI always loved going on long road trips with my parents the cheesy motels and random highway restaurants were the best.
ReplyDeleteI remember building a wooden lamp base and other small things with my grandpa. He loved showing me how to work the wood tools.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger I had to create a miniature version of something around my house and chose a doghouse. I remember my dad helping me measure and build with all his tools. Back then that was pretty exciting! (:
ReplyDeleteI remember working in the garden with my dad
ReplyDeleteMy dad and I repaired and repainted an old rowboat to take fishing. "Fuzzles Tub" we called it. :)
ReplyDeleteI love watching my husband and kids fishing together or geocaching he is such and active dad
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I loved geocaching with my dad. We need to get back into it. Our five year old would love it :)
DeleteI like the different categories, like hands on building or educational via discovery.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this idea - every kit turns into a toy!! my husband and son would have a great time with these themed kits!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute idea! I like the hands on activities and the bedtime stories. This is a wonderful way for Dads and kids to create memories.
ReplyDeleteI miss going to Detroit Tigers games with my dad when I was a kid! Love that!
ReplyDeleteI like that the kits are for ages 5-9. I have a 6-year-old and an 8-year-old, so they're the perfect ages to enjoy a kit.
ReplyDeleteIf you order by father's day, you get a special free gift. I like that extra incentive to order.
ReplyDeleteRemember the great times when my father and I would go fishing.
