Review/Giveaway: I'm Sold Makeup Eraser

I was super excited to review Makeup Eraser because, let's face it, I wear a lot of makeup!

I was skeptical though. Could a cloth really remove 100% of my makeup, as Makeup Eraser claims? Makeup Eraser claims it will remove waterproof mascara, HD makeup, even stage makeup! The Makeup Eraser has been highlighted on the Today's show, Fox news and is being launched in a few Sephora stores across the nation. Still a bit skeptical.

When I received the (I want to call it magical) Makeup Eraser it came in a pink plastic container, shaped like an eraser. Cute. I get it.

On the box I read: Remove your makeup with just water. Waterproof mascara removed in second. All natural, no chemicals, machine washable, no stains remain. Soft and promotes healthy skin.

So far, so good! I like the idea of being more environmentally friendly.

Inside I see the Makeup Eraser, and a letter from Debbie Merlin, my Makeup Eraser distributor. She explains I need to wash the cloth before use to enable the Eraser to remove makeup and exfoliate the skin effortlessly.

This disappointed me. I wanted to try it right away! Now I have to do laundry! I cheated by hand washing it with mild soap and hung it to dry.

The next night it was on! I was not wearing waterproof mascara, but I was wearing a FULL face of makeup, including lashes! By full face I mean: primer, foundation, concealer, contour, blush, eye shadow, liner, mascara, brows, and as I said lashes. You know, the usual.

First: this thing is soft! Super soft, like mink. It's made of 100% polyester.

To activate the Makeup Eraser, the cloth needs to be soaked in warm water. It initially repels the water, so it needs to be soaked. It expanded with all the water, so I squeezed some out: here goes nothing!

With small circular motions I gently wipes at my cheek. I decided to take off half my makeup, to do a side by side comparison. I did have to go over the same areas repeatedly to remove all the makeup, but I was impressed. When looking closely in the mirror, I could really see that all the makeup was removed!

I was especially impressed with the way the lipstick came off without making the surrounding skin lipstick colored, and my eye makeup did not streak as I had anticipated. I was, however, not surprised when the cloth could not fully remove the lash glue. Even with my usual eye makeup remover I have to use my fingers to pick off some of the glue.

To see if the Makeup Eraser really took everything off, I used a cotton square with toner to test. There was some makeup still, but less than I thought.

I have since seen a few reviews that explain that the two sides of the cloth are for different purposes. The side with the tag has longer fibers, and is meant to be used as an exfoliator. The other side of the Makeup Eraser is the makeup removing side.

Some people who got the Makeup Eraser knew this because they received different informational cards in their packaging. Others, like me, didn't know and learned by trial and error. I learned from them.
I do wish I had this information from the letter sent in my package. I felt under-educated when watching video tutorials people published on YouTube. I also learned the Makeup Eraser really only needs to be washed once a week in washer and dryer.

The next night I used the makeup removing side, then the exfoliating side. The makeup came off easier. When I tested how clean my face really was using toner - I was in shock! Virtually nothing!

As a makeup remover and cleaner, I am very happy with Makeup Eraser. When I asked Debbie Merlin if this replaced all cleansers, she answered in the affirmative. She did add that those with problematic skin could still use a cleanser and toner, but she just moisturizes after using her Makeup Eraser.

I did one more test: super smokey eyes. I took off the makeup of one eye with my usual eye makeup remover. The other eye I used the Makeup Eraser. This time I was not surprised when it worked better than my eye makeup remover.

Makeup Eraser retails for $19.97. This, in my opinion, is indisputably reasonable. The cost of makeup removers and cleansers can really add up. I always needed an eye makeup remover, face makeup remover, and sometimes another cleanser to really feel clean.

I know I'm looking forward to getting my 1000s of uses out of Makeup Eraser!

If you are interested in the opportunity to be a part of the Makeup Eraser movement, Debbie can let you know all about how lucrative it can be!
