Hot Ham & Swiss Rolls



So I don't know about y'all, but my family eats the same like four meals over and over on repeat. We have a 7 year old and (almost) 2 year old, so we try to be accommodating, which leaves us with few options. Meanwhile, I also have a Pinterest account filled with new fun and exciting recipes I keep meaning to try, so we can break out of this rut.

This is based on one I've seen a few times over and the way I ended up making it.

Hot Ham & Swiss Rolls

Ingredients
1 can Pillsbury Pizza Crust
1 9oz pack honey ham
12 slices swiss cheese
½ cup butter
1 tbsp dijon mustard
1 tbsp worchestershire
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp poppy seeds

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Lay out either cling wrap or foil to assist in rolling up, and unroll the pizza crust on top of it. Using hands or a rolling pin, stretch it out a bit, maintaining a rectangular shape.

Lay ham slices flat, overlapping, covering all of the crust.

Lay swiss slices over ham 4x3 rows.
Starting with the long side, roll up tightly. (Don't forget to pull off the cling wrap or foil as you go!)

Pinch seam closed, and turn over, seam side down.

Gently cut into even slices, roughly an inch thick. I managed 11 pieces.

Lay pieces flat into a greased pan. Avoid over crowding so they still puff up. I ended up using two pans for this reason.

In a saucepan, melt butter with brown sugar, Worchestershire sauce, mustard and poppy seeds on medium heat. Whisk together until smooth.

Pour evenly over rolls.

Bake for 25 minutes or until rolls are golden brown.

I think next time I will likely try with cresent rolls to create a fluffier crust. I'm also interested in trying this with a more melty cheese like chedder, or even American. This could go well with many sides - we went with a simple potato salad.   Enjoy!

  13. Jackie, this sounds delish! I did make a crescent roll ring once, you can find it on Pinterest under that description, and my family loved it. I like your individual rings better than the single large ring that we made. And you can change it up so much. Add pizza sauce and pepperoni with mozzarella, or taco meat and salsa with mexican cheese. This is such a fun idea, especially for when the kids have friends spend the night. Thanks!

    1. They Did!! My daughter even asked for them to be in her lunchbox occasionally. I was surprised because I thought she'd turn her nose up at the mustard taste.
