I'm a Gilmore Girls Addict! - Stars Hollow Monthly Box by Lit-Cube

Note: This is not a sponsored post - I am just a happy customer of the Stars Hollow Monthly Box by LitCube.  As ever, all opinions are unsolicited and my own.

Admittedly, I have many answers fighting their way to the top for the question, “What is your favorite show?” There really are too many to choose from. However, if I was asked “What show has been your favorite the longest”, I could answer that easily - The Gilmore Girls!

In my early teen years I became hooked on Gilmore Girls.

Everything about the show was drawing me in – an unbreakable mother/daughter bond, romance, drama, witty sarcasm, small town community, pop culture reference like no tomorrow, you name it!

At some point, I managed to get both my sister and mom latched in as well. Over the years, we did many marathons of the show.

I've seen the first the first 5 seasons a half dozen times at least, and the last 2 seasons a few as well.

I recall being quite devastated when the show was cancelled. I believe it still had plenty of momentum and watchers so it seemed seemed pretty random.

Edward Herrmann's passing, 7 years after the show ended, was a very emotional one for me. He had been my TV grandfather, after all.

Earlier this year I heard the best news possible! A Gilmore Girls REVIVAL was coming to Netflix!!! Not a full fledged series, sadly (yet, anyway...a girl can hope).  But four 90-minute episodes are headed to Netflix to make up Gilmore Girls: A Year in The Life.

Each episode will cover one season, starting with Winter. All four will be dropping at once, on November 25 of this year!

With that news, I had to hook a new friend onto the show, which in turn meant that I just had to watch all seven seasons again with her, thus re-energizing my obsession.

And with that, I also discovered my new favorite subscription box!!

Introducing the Stars Hollow Monthly by Lit-Cube!

I received August's box by the end of August. It was a slightly longer wait than others, due to my being in Germany at an APO box address, but it was worth the wait.

The outside of the box is clearly labeled in cursive. It is decorated on the front with the silhouette of a gazebo (a clear trademark of Stars Hollow) as well as stars, coffee mugs and umbrellas.

Inside you'll find vibrate pink tissue paper nestling your goodies.

Right on top was a makeshift Luke's Diner take-home menu, which is actually a list of this month's goodies, retail prices, and silly dialog to tie it all together.

There were four items in my box, three of which were exclusive to this box.

The first item I pulled out was a four piece acrylic coaster set with the DRAGONFLY INN logo on each one.  The Dragonfly Inn is Lorelai and Sookie's realized dream, which they opened in season Four. I love this item!

It's also very practical as we just got a new coffee table and said we need coasters soon.

Next up is a tiny pillbox with a wonderful quote from Lorelai to Rory in the episode “Kiss and Tell.”
It's pretty necessary for me to be carrying headache meds at any given time, and I loathe the sound of a rattling pill bottle in my purse, so this is fantastic!

Double plus, the inside of this split compartment box, is a mirror. Ooooh!

My favorite goodie in the Star Hollow box is my very own Luke's Diner mug! I've ALWAYS wanted one. This is a tall, thick ceramic glass with no handle. It has a snap on silicone lid, in the fashion of a to-go cup.

And what better way to break it in than with some new coffee?! I love that they added coffee. It really wouldn't be a box dedicated to Gilmore Girls without some coffee.

Furthermore, I'm glad to have learned of Boca Java now. The company looks pretty intriguing in itself. I haven't tasted it yet, but if the smell is any indication, this Boca Sunrise is going to be amazing!

My single complaint with the box is my arch nemesis - shredded paper.  But, it is biodegradable, so much better than (eek) styrofoam peanuts.

All Lit-Cube boxes are in limited quantity, so if you'd like the October box, go sign up!  The Stars Hollow Monthly is $29.95 as either a single box or as part of a monthly subscription.

If you check it out, be sure to see what else Lit-Cube has going on... Personally, I want them ALL!

  3. For some reason that I can't remember I stopped watching Gilmore Girls. It was probably when I went to college. But it was a good show and I will be watching the Netflix update.

  16. I have never watched the show yet but know that we have a date for the future. As it has been recommended to me by several people. I also heard that there is a hysterical podcast called Gilmore Guys that discusses the show in great length.
