Review and Giveaway: Moose on the Loose Childrens Book

Hello dear friends! My daughter and I had the pleasure recently of reviewing a lovely book called Moose On The Loose by Roxi Mathis.

Moose On The Loose is a fanciful story of an adventurous moose named Maurice who breaks out of a tiny cage in a zoo to go explore the country.

His trip takes him through several states until he finds the one that feels like home. The pictures are fun and endearing and the story is simple enough for young readers.

My daughter and I have an evening tradition - we read two stories a night, every night. One that my first grader will read to me and one I read to her.

She frequently picks this story off the shelf to read to me. I think one of the reasons that she relates to the story so well is that we are a military family and in her short life, we've already had to move to several different states but none of them truly feel like home except the place where she was born.

The author, Roxi Mathis, used a Kickstarter campaign to get her book published. Independent publishing is becoming more and more common and I think its a wonderful thing! I love supporting independent artists and authors. I'm so happy that we had to opportunity to get our hands on Moose On The Loose and I hope you will too!

You can purchase Moose On The Loose from Amazon for $8.00 plus $3.99 shipping and handling or you can purchase directly from the author via Facebook for $10 plus $2.00 shipping.

Ms. Mathis has also generously offered to give our one of our lucky readers their very own copy of Moose On The Loose. Read on below to enter to win.

  4. I consider St. Petersburg, Florida my home. I grew-up in Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin but spent time here often with my grandparents. After graduating college, I moved here and have been ever since. My son was born here and is a "true" Floridian. I love that! Now my grandson is also a homegrown Florida resident too. Nice!

  6. I settled into a home that is only 10 minutes from my parents' home. So I'd say I am pretty settled into my life in Ohio!

  7. I consider Home to be Northern Wisconsin. It's where my husband and I were both born and grew up, where we had our 3 children and they grew up as well, until recently when we moved to Northern Minnesota for my husbands job. Northern Wisconsin still feels like Home, but hopefully before much longer, our house and our new lives here in NM will feel like HOME <3

  8. Home is where ever our family is together. We've lived in several different parts of the country, so when we all meet at Grandma's house, we're home! I think travel is wonderful, though, and love to show our kids the diverse country we live in.

  9. This sounds like a wonderful book. I grew up about 45 minutes north of Green Bay, WI and will always call that home. I have lived a 1/2 south of there for 16 1/2 year, but home will always be where I grew up.

  14. Anywhere where family is, is home. We live in Texas. But we have family in California, New Mexico, Kentucky, Michigan and a few other states. Family always makes it feel like home. 😊

  16. Home has always been in Florida but now that I have a family, they are my home. We could move anywhere but I'll always be home. I'll just miss that beautiful Florida breeze if we move out of state.

  19. I subscribe to Charles Dickens' thoughts on home: “When I speak of home, I speak of the place where in default of a better--those I love are gathered together; and if that place where a gypsy's tent, or a barn, I should call it by the same good name notwithstanding.” But if I were a moose I might place a higher priority on my natural surroundings. Moose should not be caged!
