Review and Unboxing Video: Lip Monthly Subscription Box

Makeup subscriptions are by far my favorite kind of subscription box, so I was very excited to try out a box from Lip MonthlyLip Monthly sends out a cute little makeup bag filled with about 5 items for just $10 a month. The bag will feature 2-3 full sized items and 2-3 samples.

My Lip Monthly bag had four full sized lip products and a sample of perfume. I am not a huge lip product fan as I can never seem to find a color that looks good on me, but that is the fun part of a subscription like this: you can try out new things!  To see what came in the bag, check out my video unboxing:

Currently, the Lip Monthly subscription is not customizable to your skin tone, hair color or trend preferences, but a quick read through their FAQ's tells me that they are planning that in the future. For now, I feel like its still a great value when you can easily spend $10 on one single lip product at a drug store. This way, you are getting to try brands you might not be familiar with and colors you wouldn't dare try on your own. FUN!

So the only bad news with this one is that one of my products was damaged during shipping. It melted! In January! I contacted them to let them know about the damage and they asked me to set it aside. Oddly, it wasn't even listed on the product card so I almost think it got thrown in as a bonus.

Typically, subscribers would contact  Lip Monthly's Customer Satisfaction team and work something out with them for the damaged product. I mentioned in the video that the normal thing for them to do was replace it, but I don't know for certain that that is the case.

If you are adventurous with your makeup or you just love lip color, you'll definitely want to check out Lip Monthly! They are offering a coupon code on their website where you can get your first month for only $5.00! You have the option to be billed monthly, quarterly or annually for your subscription as well.

DISCLAIMER:
After conducting my review of this product, I found several unboxing videos on YouTube where customers were very disappointed with this subscription box. Others have stated that they have received discontinued or expired cosmetics from Lip Monthly.

I was able to find each item in my Lip Monthly bag as a current item from other retailers so I personally didn't receive discontinued items.

Another complaint that I've heard is that there is some inconsistency with their billing and shipping. Since I received this item strictly for review purposes, I cannot speak to whether or not this is true.

Lip Monthly is still a fairly new sub-box company so it could be that they are working out all the kinks still. In the interest of full disclosure though, I would recommend that you proceed with caution in regards to starting a Lip Monthly Subscription, simply because there are so many consistently bad reviews out there.

  2. WOW! I subscribe to a few monthly boxes like this and it seems they can't ever get it 100% right with what I like and what should be included in my box. Either way, I've never heard of this one so thanks for the heads up!
